Happy All Hallows Eve

Happy Halloween to All!!
Since we moved to the city, we haven't had one trick or treater. Let's hope that all changes once we move to BHL!! It will be fun to see cute little ones in their adorable and scary costumes. Perhaps we will even see some pets dressed up next year....maybe even our own.

Productive Week

Last week was a busy week at BHL. Garage doors, hardwood floors, stone tile, kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, baseboards and closet shelving were installed!! Things are really starting to take shape on the interior now. This week will be a slow week with the painters going in and out doing some touch-ups. Next Monday granite countertops will be installed...yay!!

More Visitors!!

Chris's co-worker/friend Skip came by the house with us last week to take a sneak peak of the kitchen cabinet installation. We had been given a last minute kitchen granite option to choose from so having his input was extremely helpful (in addition to all of other Chris's co-workers...thanks all!!). We have made our final decision and can't wait to see it in place next week.

Lot 17 and 18 Update

Lot 17 and 18 are looking great too. Grass is lush and green, landscaping is complete and Lot 18 is now lived in. We met one half of the couple a few weeks ago while he was racking the straw from their grass. He seemed very nice and we know we have at least one thing in common with he and his wife. They made the transition to suburbia as well....from South Boston.

Appliances Delivered!!

Our range, microwave, dishwasher and wine fridge were delivered and are awaiting installation. I guess the cabinets and granite need to be installed first...makes sense. They have been ordered and should be installed in the next few weeks. Woohoo!!

Painters Working Hard

Typically when we drop by the house on the weekends it is free of contractors and workers. This past weekend though the painters were working hard rocking out to WBCN. We even got to see the first glimpse of Wind Chime (sagey green) in the living room and Feather Gray (blue/gray) in the master bedroom. We are super happy with our color choices and personally, I am excited to get decorating!!

When I told my mom and Jim that we chose Wind Chime for the living room they were surprised since it is the same color as the shutters and garage doors on their house!! Of all the greens we select the same one. I guess I am my mother's daughter :-) Here are some pics:

Family Visit

While Chris and I were dropping off our light fixtures at the house on Saturday, we got a nice visit from Mom and Jim. The last time that Mom was at the house, it was still on a pile of rock and just a shell with 2x4s (??) framing each room. Now it is almost an inhabitable house!! It was Jim's first time at the lot so he got the detailed play by play from Chris and me, as well as a tour of Lot 17 which is very close to being completed. It was such a beautiful fall day and we got to check out some foliage views from the street too. It has been nice to see the transition from Summer to Autumn.

It's Coming Along

We have walls folks, real walls, some even with paint!! Chris and I think it is strange that the rooms are looking larger now that the drywall is up. You think it would be the opposite. Things are really coming along in the interior. All of the rooms have been drywalled, some crown molding is up as well as wainscotting. The painter has even made an appearance to start spraying Bone White onto the majority of the walls. If all goes according to plan this week, hardwood floors will be put down and maybe even kitchen cabinetry will be installed. Now THAT will be exciting!! Here are some interior pics for your viewing pleasure.

The New Mr. and Mrs. Santos

I have to give a shout out to Jeff and Angela who tied the knot on the most beautiful Sunday in October at the even more beautiful Wentworth by the Sea. Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. who are most likely en route to San Francisco/Napa Valley at this moment to celebrate their honeymoon in grand fashion. I wish them lots of love and happiness for years to come....and maybe they will be the next to make the transition to suburbia!!

Light Fixtures, Check!!

FINALLY, our last light fixture was delivered yesterday and I wanted to do a little dance of joy. I never thought that picking out light fixtures would be such a daunting task. What could be more daunting? Ummmmm, selecting the right light bulb? Compact florescent, standard or halogen? Soft white or bright white? Candelabra base, medium base, standard base? Who knew?

Move Scheduled!!

We scheduled the big move today with Roadrunner Moving and Storage for Friday, November 28, 2008. They moved us into our place 4 1/2 years ago so we thought we would use them again since we had such a great experience. It should be quite the spectacle when they hoist our couches 2 flights down out of the dining room window. There is something about hoisting up that seems safer then going down but what do I know. Either way, I am glad that 4 strong men (not including Chris) will be helping with the move. I just hope that everyone still isn't in a tryptophan coma from Thanksgiving the day before.

Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed that everything remains on schedule with the house!!

Exterior Updates

It has been a couple of weeks since Chris and I stopped by to visit the house so we were very excited to drop by yesterday. When we rounded the bend of BHL the first thing we noticed was shutters, then a real paved driveway and fence, then landscaping and hydroseed!! What a difference two weeks made. And since I was driving, I got to take the new Subaru onto the driveway for the first time. It's going to take a little getting used too....maybe a couple or one day. I have already decided that I want the first garage bay :-)

While we were milling around the yard, we also met another set of neighbors. They seemed very nice and are certainly happy that construction on the street will be wrapping up soon!!

It will be nice when the Johnny-on-the-spot isn't a permenant fixture.

OooooAhhhh, Insulation and Dry Wall

On our most recent visit to BHL, we were greeted by insulation and drywall. Yay!! We are going to be warm and have walls. Yippee!! It is amazing how much more cozy feeling the rooms are now with just some pink stuff and white boards (my non-contractor terms) being put up.

We also picked up samples for floor tiles, carpeting and kitchen sink granite so we have some choices to make before next Wednesday. Decisions, decisions.

Backyard Coming Along

The backyard has been cleared of ledge/stone and has been blanketed with loam just waiting for grass to be planted. It is looking good but since some ledge still remains off to one side (right side of the pics), it is smaller then we had hoped it would be. Even so, it will still be great for BBQs and fun!!
